Credits
What uses credits, what is free, what happens when you run out, and how trial credits work.
Credits pay for AI checks, AI writing and AI images, and everything else in the app is free. Your plan adds a set number each month. Every priced button shows its live price, so the number on the button is what you pay.
Before you start
- Credits come with a paid plan or its free trial. The Free plan has none, and its free check costs you nothing.
- Your balance is on the Plan page: go to Settings, then press See plans and credits.
How many credits do I get?

Monthly plans get their credits when each billing cycle starts. Yearly plans get the same monthly amount every month.

What is free?
- The product check and Check again.
- Every typed fix: categories, barcodes, details, search visibility, alt text, search titles and descriptions.
- All bulk fixes, and templates, including automatic ones.
- Redirects, Changes and undo.
- The content check, the SEO score and rich results.
- Adding, pausing and resuming questions, and monitoring products.
- Reading any page, changing your schedule, comparing prices and Did it work?
- Blog ideas, Guided title suggestions and image ideas.
- Publishing, scheduling, taking an article down, and keeping, discarding or undoing a change.
- Setup's writing of your first shopper questions and finding your competitors.
How much does a round of checks use?
One check of one question asks every place that is switched on. With ChatGPT Shopping, Google AI Mode and three assistants, that is 5 places at 5 credits, so 25 credits. With Google AI Mode off, it is 20.
Multiply by your questions and how often they run. On our demo store, 23 questions of each kind came to about 575 credits a round. On Every week, that is about 2,464 credits a month, and Starter adds 5,000.
Setup starts every store on Every week, which fits every plan even with its question limit full. Settings forecasts your own figure under How often we check your questions: "On this schedule your questions use about 2,464 credits a month, and your plan adds 5,000." A faster schedule costs more: the same questions on Every 3 days use about 5,750 credits a month, which is above what Starter adds. If the forecast passes what your plan adds, you can:
- Choose Every week, which runs fewer than half as many checks as Every 3 days.
- Pause the questions you need least.
- Switch off Also look at Google AI Mode if it shows few products in your market.
- Move to a bigger plan.
The forecast covers your shopper questions. Articles, images and other work come out of the same balance.
When am I charged, and when am I not?
- A check costs the same whether or not the answer shows products.
- A check that fails is not charged. It shows as "Couldn't check · not charged".
- When you press a priced button, RankX AI confirms your balance covers it. If it does not, nothing runs and nothing is charged.
- An article is charged only for what is delivered. If writing stops before a draft is saved, nothing is charged.
- An image that cannot be made, or that does not keep your product as it is, is not charged.
How do trial credits work?
New stores get 1,000 credits when the trial starts, once per store. They are for the trial, and any left end when it finishes, so your paid month starts with its full monthly credits. Your first check uses up to 200 of them.
What happens to credits I do not use?
Each month's credits are for that month. Unused ones end with the month, and a fresh allowance arrives with the next one. If you move to a bigger plan part way through a month, RankX AI adds a share of the extra credits straight away.
How do I see what is left?
The Plan page shows your balance and turns it into work, such as "About 79 more shopping answer checks." and "About 1 more blog post."

What happens when I run out?
Actions that cost credits are refused, and nothing is charged. Scheduled checks pause, and you get a notification: You have run out of credits. Home reads "Scheduled checks are paused because your credits ran out. They start again when your next credits arrive."
They start again by themselves when new credits arrive. There are no top-ups on Shopify, so your options are to wait for your next credits or choose a bigger plan.

What uses credits in the RankX AI Shopify app?
AI checks, AI writing and AI images. Each check costs 5 credits for each place it looks, and each priced button shows its live price. Typed fixes, bulk fixes, templates, redirects and undo are free.
Can I buy extra credits?
There are no top-ups on Shopify. Credits come with your plan each month, and a bigger plan adds more.
What happens if I run out of credits?
Actions that cost credits are refused and nothing is charged. Scheduled checks pause and start again by themselves when your next credits arrive.
Am I charged if a check shows no products?
