The two modes
Ask can only read. Act changes nothing without you.
A message costs 2 credits in either mode, and the modes differ in exactly one way: whether RankX AI is allowed to propose a change at all. Approving or declining one is free.
Ask
Reads your own data and answers in plain English: who is named instead of you, what moved, which pages an answer cited, where the credits went.
Reads only. It cannot change anything or spend credits beyond the message itself.
Act
Everything Ask does, and it can also propose changes: save a keyword, create a task, fix one page's title and meta. Each change arrives as a card showing exactly what will happen, and its price, before anything runs.

The stake lines are the product’s own words, shown beside the send button in the app. An approved action that runs a check or writes a draft then charges that action’s own published rate, quoted on the approval card first.

The point is not chatting for its own sake: it is that the distance from a question to tracked work, or to a fixed page, is one approved card.

“Am I getting better or worse?” reads your tracked prompts and rankings and answers with the trend and the two answers that changed it, not a dashboard tour.
Turn a finding into tracked work
“Save the three keywords from that gap” becomes three saved keywords and a task, each shown on a card you approve, so nothing lands in your account unseen.
Fix the page while you talk about it
“Fix that title” in Act mode proposes the exact before and after for one page, applies it when you approve, and keeps the undo. Bodies of pages stay yours.
The quoted asks are the sample scenario’s. Chat answers from your own tracked data, so it will decline a question about a website the conversation does not belong to.

What does a chat message cost?
2 credits, flat, however many steps the answer takes, and the price is the same in Ask and Act. Approving or declining a proposal, giving feedback and slash commands are all free. When an approved action runs a check or writes a draft, that action's own published rate is charged, and it is quoted on the approval card before anything runs.
Can it change my website without me noticing?
No. Ask mode cannot change anything at all. In Act mode every change arrives as a card showing exactly what will happen before it runs, nothing is applied until you approve that card, and an applied page fix keeps an undo that restores the exact previous values. Every write is also recorded in an audit log.
What can Act mode actually change?
Small, specific, reversible things: save keywords, prompts and tasks, retune a tracked keyword, apply one page's fix, set one page's SEO title and meta description, rewrite one product's SEO text, or create an empty draft. It can never write or delete the body of a page, change many pages at once, touch your media library, or go near WordPress settings, plugins or users.
Does it remember me between conversations, or work while I am away?
Neither, on purpose. A conversation belongs to one website and knows nothing outside itself, and chat acts only while you are there: nothing scheduled, nothing recurring. The product publishes both as permanent limits on chat rather than roadmap.
Who gets chat, and does my plan matter?
Every plan has it, for you and your team, at the same price per message. No tier unlocks it and there is no chat add-on. The one exception is agency client portal logins, which do not see chat, and agencies can also switch it per client with a permission.
Can my team see my conversations?
Only if you share them. A conversation is yours; you can share one with a teammate as a collaborator, who can read, send and approve, or as a viewer, who can only read. Sharing a conversation never widens anyone's access to the website behind it.
How is this different from asking ChatGPT about my SEO?
