Content Autopilot

Content Autopilot plans and writes articles for a Website on your schedule, and publishes them when you choose. How it picks topics, and what it costs.

Content Autopilot is RankX AI's scheduled writer. Switch it on for a Website and it plans topics from your own queue and your topic clusters, researches and writes an article on the cadence you choose, and either holds each one for your review or publishes it to your connected site. It runs on the same engine as Write, at the same one price per article, under a monthly cap you set.

Switching Content Autopilot on

Content Autopilot lives in Settings → Automation → Content, on each Website, and the agency's own team controls it. The settings answer three questions before anything is spent:

  • How often. A cadence of 1, 3, 7, 14 or 30 days, down to the fastest your plan allows. See check cadence.
  • How many. A maximum number of articles a month, which is a hard stop whatever the cadence allows.
  • How long. Short, standard or long, which sets the target length and the price of each article.

The estimate beside the cadence shows what that combination costs in credits a month, and the rates are on the credit cost reference.

How Content Autopilot chooses topics

Content Autopilot plans from three sources, in a fixed order, so the plan is one you can read in advance:

  1. Your own queue first. Topics you add on Content Studio's Plan tab are written in the order you set.
  2. Your topic clusters next, rotating across clusters so the articles spread across your subjects. Within a cluster, the keywords where you have most to gain come first: those you do not rank for at all, then your weakest positions.
  3. Your tracked keywords after that.

A topic already covered by a brief, an article or an earlier run is never planned again. The Plan tab shows what Content Autopilot will write next on a calendar, and you can rename, reorder, remove or add topics there.

A topic you already rank for gets an improvement rather than a rival article. When a page on your site already ranks for a planned topic, Content Autopilot proposes an improvement to that page instead, at the page improvement rate, and the proposal waits for your review on the Improve tab. That needs a connected website; without one the topic is skipped and nothing is charged.

Review mode and publish mode

Review mode is where every Website starts, and it is the recommended setting. Each finished article waits in Content Studio for someone to read it, exactly as an article from Write does.

Publish mode approves and publishes each finished article to the connected website you choose. Choosing it adds three settings:

  • When to publish. A window of hours and days, in the Website's own time zone. An article finished outside it is scheduled for the next opening.
  • Links from existing pages. After an article goes live, Content Autopilot suggests a link to it on your most closely related pages. Each suggestion is a page improvement, included in the monthly estimate, and waits for your review on the Improve tab.
  • Featured image. Chosen from your site's own media library, matched to the topic by title or alt text, with a fallback image you pick.

Every article is written in the voice set in your Brand Book, and Content Autopilot can rotate through the article types you tick, one per article. Publishing follows the same verified path as a manual publish, described in publishing articles.

What Content Autopilot costs

Each article is one charge, at the same rate as an article from Write of the same length, covering research, outline and writing. A run that delivers no draft is not charged.

When a subscription is inactive, Content Autopilot pauses and spends nothing until it is reactivated. A run that is skipped says why on the settings screen, with the setting that fixes it.
