Find feed errors before Merchant Center does.

Open a CSV, TSV or XML product feed, or give its address or a Google Sheet. Every item is checked against Google’s product data specification, a file you open never leaves your computer, and you get each problem with its fix.

The feed is read and checked by your browser. Nothing is uploaded to RankX AI, so it is safe to check unreleased products and prices. Download the problems as a CSV to work through them.

Questions

About the Product Feed Checker

What does the Product Feed Checker check?

The seven attributes Google requires on every item (id, title, description, link, image_link, availability and price), the length limits on id, title and description, price and sale price format, accepted availability and condition values, GTIN check digits, missing brand and identifiers, duplicate ids, promotional text, image formats, and the color, size, gender and age_group rules for clothing.

Which feed formats does it read?

Tab-separated and comma-separated text with a header row, which is what Google Sheets and most exports produce, and XML feeds in RSS 2.0 or Atom with the g: namespace. Attribute names may carry the g: prefix or not.

Is my feed uploaded anywhere?

A file you open or paste is not: it is read and checked by your own browser, and nothing is sent to RankX AI or anyone else, so it is safe to check a feed with unreleased products or prices. A feed you give by web address is fetched by our server, kept for ten minutes so a repeat check does not ask your site again, then dropped.

How big a feed can it check?

Tens of thousands of items. A file you open is read by your browser up to 60 MB. A feed read from a web address can be up to 20 MB.

Can it check a feed from a web address or a Google Sheet?

Yes. Choose From a web address and enter the feed’s address, or the link to a Google Sheet shared with anyone who has the link. The checker reads the sheet as a tab-separated file, the way Merchant Center does, and checks it the same way as a file.

What does it do with columns Google does not recognise?

It lists them, with the attribute each one most likely meant: image_url for image_link, colour for color, a misspelt availabilty. Merchant Center silently ignores a column it does not know, so a misnamed column means that attribute is missing from every item.

Does a clean result mean Merchant Center will approve everything?

No. This checks the feed against Google’s written specification. Merchant Center also crawls your landing pages, compares prices and stock with them, and applies its shopping policies, which only Merchant Center itself can judge.

Why is brand a warning and not an error?

Google requires brand for new products but not for films, books and music, and the checker cannot tell which category every product is in. Treat the warning as an error for anything else you sell new.
