Find the theme and apps behind any Shopify store.

Enter any Shopify store. The detector reads its home page and names the theme it runs, the Theme Store theme it is built on and its version, and the apps it loads, from reviews and email to search and upsells.

FreeNo accountAny Shopify store

Any Shopify store, yours or one you admire. We read its home page once, as a visitor would, and nothing is stored.

What it finds

The theme, its version, and the apps the store runs

Every Shopify storefront describes its own theme in its page code. The detector reads that description, matches it against the Shopify Theme Store, and looks for the scripts and widgets apps add to the store.

The theme

Name and the theme behind it

The name the store gave its theme, and the Theme Store theme it is built on, even when it has been renamed. 84 Theme Store themes are named, with designer and price.

The version

How up to date it is

The theme’s version number, and whether it is a retired theme Shopify no longer lists.

The apps

87 apps recognised

Grouped by what they do: email and sms, pop-ups and forms, reviews, reviews and loyalty, loyalty and rewards, wishlists and more, including apps that load as Shopify app embeds.

Custom builds

Not on the Theme Store

A theme with no Theme Store number is a custom build, a theme bought elsewhere or an edited copy. The detector says so, with the name its own settings use.

Beyond the theme

A good theme does not make the products findable

Two stores on the same theme can do very differently in Google and AI shopping answers. What separates them is the product data the theme displays: titles, descriptions, images, identifiers and markup.

Every product

Free ecommerce SEO audit

Run the same store through the Ecommerce SEO Audit to see every product’s titles, descriptions and images checked at once.

The markup

What the theme tells Google

Themes print the product markup Google reads for shopping results. Check a product page with the Schema Markup Checker.

The listing

Titles in search results

See how a product page’s title and description appear in Google with the Title and Meta Description Checker.

Questions

About the Shopify Theme Detector

How does the Shopify theme detector work?

Every Shopify storefront describes its own theme in its page code: the name the store gave it, the name and version from the theme’s settings, and its Theme Store number. The detector reads that from the home page and matches the number to the Theme Store listing, with its designer and price.

Why does it show two names for the theme?

Stores often rename their theme, for example to “Copy of Dawn” or their own brand. The detector shows the name the store uses and the Theme Store theme it was built from.

What does “custom or unlisted” mean?

The theme has no Theme Store number. It may be built for the store, bought from a marketplace outside the Theme Store, or an edited copy. The detector shows the name its own settings use.

How does it detect apps?

Apps add scripts, styles and widgets to the storefront from their own addresses or as Shopify app embeds. The detector recognises the signatures of the apps in its list, grouped by what they do, and lists any other app embeds it finds.

Can it miss an app?

Yes. It reads the home page only, so an app that works in the background, at checkout or only on product pages may not show, and a removed app can leave its script behind. Treat the list as what the storefront loads, not as the store’s full app list.

Is it allowed to check another store?

Yes. The detector reads the same public page any visitor sees, once, and stores nothing.

Does the theme affect SEO?

Some. The theme decides page speed, headings and the product markup Google reads. But two stores on the same theme can rank very differently: the product titles, descriptions, images and identifiers make the difference, and the free Ecommerce SEO Audit checks those for every product.
